After nearly a year various events are taking place at the Centre. We have a Produce Market on the 3rd. Saturday of every month, Computer Classes are held, together with line dancing, and keep fit classes. We must thank Mrs Rosie TURNER, who did a lot of work in getting a library up and running at the Centre. Please keep an eye on our Notice Board page, which together with our Events page, display activities at Stithians Centre.

Stithians Centre Committee at a meeting

HISTORY OF STITHIANS CENTRE

Over 5 years ago the Parish Council decided that Stithians was in need of a Resource Centre, which would incorporate a dedicated Pre-School, an IT Suite, and a Library. The existing Village Hall needed a new kitchen and refurbishment of the Main Hall. At that time the building was leasehold from The Glebe.
Enquiries were started which would lead to the purchase of the freehold. After a lot of hard work by The Chair, Councillor Monica Biscoe, and the then Village Hall Committee involving legal work, planning permission, and the raising of funding mainly through grants from the National Lottery, Objective One, Rural Renaissance, The Parish Council, and other organisations shown in the logo above, building of the Centre was at last started on 23rd April 2007

On Saturday the 8th March 2008, the Stithians Centre was officially opened by Daphne Skinnard, from Radio Cornwall, accompanied by Mrs.Margaret Ramsey, Chair of Stithians Village Hall and Resource Centre Committee, and Mrs. Megan Bury, who with her late husband put so much work into the Village Hall.

St Stythians Band was at the opening to entertain viisitors

The Library stocked and ready to be opened.
